Not Dead Yet 04/10/2012
We've been web dead for a while but good news everyone, we're back. Details on this year's projects will be announced sometime this month but in the mean time, visit our You Tube channel for videos of our first two projects. More videos to be released soon. The Anatomical Theatre's You Tube Channel Dan Add Comment The Radio Play That Ate Your Face! 09/29/2011
It's here. The first live performance recording of The Radio Play That Ate Your Face! This was performed live at Mozart's in Uplands, Swansea, on September 15th 2011 by Dan Jenkins, Saul Woods & Stephen Donnelly and was written by Dan Jenkins. A few weeks ago we were contacted by the grand folk from The Crunch...(Mozart's twice monthly poetry & spoken word event) and asked if The Anatomical Theatre would like to take the feature slot in a weeks time. So it was decided that our first public show The Play That Ate Your Face! would be re-written in a radio play format for a script in hand performance.
This Wednesday! 09/26/2011
The Tour IIThe world's greatest tour guide Ms Dorit Historia Rumsfeld will be conducting a tour around the grounds of Swansea Metropolitan University's Townhill campus. The tour will feature a short performance of a classical text and an epic poem. The tour takes place in September's weather so umbrellas, coats and appropriate footwear is advised. Please meet at the Box Office at 1:30pm promptly on Wednesday 28th September. The Tour II will last approximately 35 minutes. No money will exchange hands (i.e. it's free). Also...Scratch That Itch returns with event number 3 this Wednesday. "The event is free but any donations are kindly welcomed. We are also finished in plenty of time for all you Cardiff and Newport folk to be able to get back home. Monkey is within a 5-10 min walk of the train station. Everyone is welcome we provide a relaxed environment for people to show work and get feedback from others. Some pieces are at the earliest stage of development, some are a bit more polished but every one at the event is looking for feedback." XX/XY 07/08/2011
We did it. XX and XY, 2 simultaneously performed plays, have just finished their three night run. I'd like to thank everyone who worked so hard over the last seven weeks to make it all happen, the cast and crew, the front of house staff and the support of friends and peers. Christopher Hoyle was kind enough to come in during a dress run and take some fantastic photographs which can be seen here. As always the work doesn't stop here as The Anatomical Theatre is always working towards something. All I can says is our next project will be something entirely different once again. Dan Opening Night 4 Days Away! 07/01/2011
*UPDATE* There will be delicious cake and beverages before the show and during the interval! Doors open at 7pm - Performances start at 7.30pm. Our latest project's opening night is only 4 nights away and we're at those final stages of rehearsal where everything finally falls in to place. This promises to be quite an experience. As always we have no idea exactly what kind of experience but if you don't come along you won't find out. I'm surprised a number of people have asked me which show to see. Both! Surely. As if I'm going to be able to choose having worked on both for six weeks. Both performances tell a story in their own right so you can see one and walk away fulfilled but there should still be (we hope) a few lingering thoughts of "I wonder what was happening in the other when..." Others have asked which show to go and see first. Again, I really couldn't decide. I'm enjoying different qualities of both at our current stage of rehearsal and there's still a few things to attend to. I'll be flipping a coin on the opening night to decide which one I see but we hope you'll make that decision soon and book tickets by visiting our box office page. Remember; we have limited seating each night for both performances so get your tickets now and avoid disappointment. Dan. It always feels to me, in each of our projects to date, that once the posters are printed and stuck on walls, the flyers cut to size and ready to be spread around town, once we have been through our Facebook friends and invited each one to the event (regardless of their interest in theatre), only once all this has been done does the reality of the project sink in. This is all really happening. In three weeks there will be an audience (we hope) and we will have two excellent plays to share with them (we promise). We had a really positive reaction from audiences attending our last project and while that was quite an ambitious task 'XX' & 'XY' has been even more challenging but will prove to be something quite spectacular. Essentially what I'm getting at here is that we're expecting a high demand and there are limited seats so book early! A super-sized thank you to Lloyd Evans for turning out another set of truly high quality designs for the posters and flyers. I hope to find the time to share with you some photos and videos from the rehearsal process. We've still got a big task ahead of us and challenging though this all will be, we can't say it isn't a lot of fun. So tell your friends, get your tickets from our box office page on this website, and pop back here occasionally for a few updates. Dan Warning - Announcement Imminent 06/12/2011
At some point this evening (or early morning tomorrow depending on how the day goes) all the info on our latest project will on the site and the box office will be open for you to buy tickets. It's going to be limited capacity for these shows folks so keep checking back and get in early. Dan A Quick Note To Say 05/24/2011
We haven't gone AWOL. Rehearsal has started for our latest project and the site shall be updated at some point this week. Check back soon for information on our current project, tidbits from rehearsals and (hopefully) some updates to past performance and artist pages. Dan 'Not Dead, Just Shit' Jenkins The Story of Art - It Was Quite A Journey 04/09/2011
The Anatomical Theatre would like to offer many thanks to everyone who came to see a performance of The Story of Art this week. It was one hell of a journey to turn a show like that around in six weeks. A huge thank you to our cast who undertook a huge task despite having a number of other commitments (incl. studying, working, rehearsing for other shows) and a big thank you to our crew, front of house staff and everyone else who helped out during show week and the process. Updates to come soon |
